Many real estate professionals may not be aware, but attorneys are prohibited from fee splitting with non-lawyers. This has become a hot topic in the area of loan modifications. Many loan modification companies look to align themselves with attorneys for several reasons including legitimacy and to evade local laws against collecting fees upfront etc. The ABA recently featured at article, Working With Foreclosure Consultants Can Get a Lawyer Burned, which addresses these issues.

My main form of business are my signs out in the streets of Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau County. Lately, I haven't been getting too many calls from homeowners in foreclosure even though i KNOW they are out there. I was getting so many calls in the winter & spring, but now I'm not getting anything? Where can i find more business for short sales!?!?

As our clients well know, we negotiate short sales, loan workouts and modifications and assist our client investors in their endeavors in this regard by reviewing packages, supplying preliminary HUD-1s etc.
